Lady Mt’neers golf team off to undefeated start on the green

Newcomer sophomore Jocelyn Liss garnered everyone’s attention when she aced the ninth and final hole of the Mt. Vernon Team Challenge with a five iron. This is her first year playing, having never played before deciding to “try it for fun” over the summer.

Newcomer, Liss aces ninth hole in Mt. Vernon Team Challenge
The Lady Mt’neers Golf Team is off to a strong start on the green. As a team they have now won both the Challenge Cup on Sept. 4, and the Mt. Vernon Team Challenge on Thursday, Sept. 5.
In the Challenge Cup they competed against Seneca High School., Monett High School and Cassville High School in Cassville, finishing six under par as a team.
They returned the next day in the Mt. Vernon Team Challenge which hosted a total of nine teams competing in scores that represented individuals, modified alternate shot, and scramble teams. They took each team’s best individual score (out of two) and added it to the modified alternate shot and scramble scores. Mt. Vernon was able to take first place with a score of 274 followed by Joplin High School. with a score of 310. Madi Phillips was also the low score of the day with a 75.
