John Wayne Linder

John Wayne Linder, 66, of Long Beach, Miss., passed away Nov. 17, 2019, at the Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Miss. He was born Feb. 8, 1953, in Stotts City, to Charles Wesley and Mary Margaret (Newman) Linder.
Linder was a 1971 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School in Mt. Vernon, and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was an auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith. In 2006, he married Linda Kathleen Brendel, in Kansas City.
Linder is survived by: his wife of 13 years; daughters, Deborah (Gary) Borders of Marshall and Mary Linder of Kansas City; sons, Steve Linder and Dale Linder, both of Kansas City; step-daughter, Katie Brendel, of Silva; brother, Randy (Jane) Linder of Stotts City; sisters, Shirley Fleetwood of Joplin, Shari Copenhaver of Mt. Vernon, and Barbara Tharp of Springfield; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Linda Lewsader; a nephew; and two brother-in-laws.
A visitation was held from 12–1 p.m. Nov. 23, 2019, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with a funeral service that followed at 1 p.m. Burial followed at the Moore Cemetery in Stotts City. Memorials may be made to the Moore Cemetery, in care of the funeral home.
