Jerry Joe Henson

Jerry Joe Henson was born on July 15, 1933 in Brookline and passed away on Dec. 16, 2019 at Sonshine Manor after a short illness.
Henson was a 1950 graduate of Republic High School. He was one of the founding members of Nichols Junction Fire Department (one of the first volunteer fire departments formed in Greene County), where he served as both treasurer and volunteer firefighter for many years. As a young man, he worked at various jobs, including running a milk route at 16, driving a bull dozer for a neighbor, and running an independent gas station. He then started working in the parts department for Chrysler/Dodge at various dealers among which were Central Dodge, ARKAMO Parts, Bud Martin Chrysler, Jimmy Mitchell of Aurora, Ozark Chrysler, and Youngblood Motors from which he retired.
He is survived by: his wife of 67 years Barbara (Kunzler); daughters, Angela Salrin of Republic, Sheila Henson Springfield, Kimberly (Darin) Cole of Republic; brother, Terry Paul (Virginia) Henson Sr.; and sister Geraldine (Ronnie) Wolvine; and a grandson; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and sister, Barbara Nell Henson.
Visitation was held Dec. 20, 2019 in Meadors Funeral Home in Republic Chapel. A funeral was held Dec. 21, 2019 also in Meadors Funeral Home in Republic with burial that followed in Brookline Cemetery in Brookline.
