Jerry Dee Swearingen

Jerry Dee Swearingen, 80, of Monett passed away Nov. 7, 2020 after a brief illness. He was born in Purdy May 21, 1940; the son of the late Walter and Alphia (Henderson) Swearingen. He was united in marriage on Dec. 22, 1962 in Miami, Okla. to Glenna Periman; to this union they were blessed with two adopted daughters, Wanda Hinkle and Robyn Adams.
He was retired from Marsh Engineering in Monett, was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the 1st Freewill Baptist Church in Monett.
Survivors include his wife, daughters, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gallen and Dayton Swearingen; and sisters, Wilma Davis, Marge Reahl, Virginia Buntin, Mildred Garrett and Sharon Allen.
Visitation was held Nov. 11, 2020 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Funeral services followed visitation at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Chapel in Monett. Burial took place at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Stroke Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
