Gene Wilkerson

Gene Wilkerson, age 81, of Miller, Missouri, passed away at 4:46 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at his home.  He was born August 13, 1938, in Plew, Missouri, the son of Cecil and Neva (Bullard) Wilkerson.
Gene was a 1955 graduate of Miller High School and was a dairy farmer.  Gene was saved and accepted Christ at a young age at the church in Plew, Missouri and was a member of the Halltown Baptist Church in Halltown, Missouri.
On February 21, 1957, he married Deloris Lampkin, in the Round Grove Community.  She preceded him in death on April 18, 2014.
Gene loved attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and watching them play and coach. After retiring from dairy farming, he and Deloris enjoyed a beef herd.  Gene also enjoyed attending the local cattle auction barns and visiting with other farmers.  He also enjoyed catching up with school mates, Mason Colley and Larry Wood.
Gene is survived by his son, Darren Wilkerson and his wife, April, of Miller; four daughters, Carla Wilson, DeLana Stokes and her husband, Doug, Gayla Mallory and her husband, Larry, all of Miller and Kyra Ford and her  husband, Josh, of Louisburg, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris, parents, Cecil and Neva, sister, Shirley Hudson, two brothers, Dale and Max Wilkerson and two grandchildren, Whitney and Weston Mallory.
A visitation was held from 11:00-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020, at the Halltown Baptist Church, in Halltown, Missouri with a graveside service that followed at 1:00 p.m. at the Rock Prairie Cemetery in Halltown. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Missouri.
