FREDERICK DOUGLAS WORM

Frederick Douglas Worm, affectionately known as “Captain Spanky” to family and friends, took his final voyage on Sunday, March 30, 2025, with his son, Joshua and daughter-in-law, Jessica by his side. He was a loving dad and Papa. Fred graduated from Monett High School in 1967 and Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, Okmulgee, Oklahoma in 1969.
Dad was a jack of all trades. Thinking back there isn’t anything I can remember that he wasn’t able to fix. He was a hard working man. Often putting in 18 plus hours a day, but always making time for the important things in life.
Throughout his life, he was an electrician, fabricator, mechanic, owner operator, car dealer and fisherman. Fred also had a federal firearm license and captain’s license.
Dad would often say, “Can’t, we can do in a day. Impossible, just takes longer.” I hope he’s right because at this moment it seems impossible to get over his loss.
Fred is survived by his son, Joshua and daughter-in-law, Jessica Worm of Monett; four grandchildren: Dana Pierce (Luke Pierce) of Koshkonong, Missouri, Rikki Struble (Enoch Struble) of Bruner, Missouri, and Kody and Kolton Worm of Ozark, Missouri; also, four bonus grandchildren: Madi Wright (Brady Wright) of Pierce City, Missouri and Taylor, Dakoda and Hayleigh Hood of Rockwall, Texas. He also leaves two great-grandsons, Emmett Wright and, expected in October 2025, Waylon Pierce; as well as his brother, Dennis Worm and wife Donna of Monett, Missouri.
Fred was preceded in death by both parents, Edward and Wilma Worm and twin brothers, Rick and Roger Worm, all of Monett.
Fred will be missed by both family and friends alike. Everyone’s thoughts and prayers are appreciated through this difficult time.
We also want to give a special thanks to our Gentiva Hospice team, Reggie, Nancy, Jordyn, Lisa, Stephanie and Roger. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home in Monett.
