Frances Gibson

Frances Gibson, 88, of Mt. Vernon, passed away Nov. 12, 2020, at home, from complications of multiple myeloma.  She was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Owingsville, Ky.
Gibson was a 1950 graduate of Miller High School, in Miller and attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.  She was an activity aid for the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mt. Vernon. Gibson was a member of the Mt. Vernon First Baptist Church where she was involved with the Women on Mission and the Shinning Lights Sunday School class.
In 1955, she married John R. Gibson in Miller and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1968.
Gibson is survived by her children, Shirley Gibson of Independence, Brenda (Todd) Young of Salem Ore., Charles Gibson of Chicago, Ill., Kenneth Gibson and his wife, Robin, of Mt. Vernon and Jeff (Peggy) Gibson of Springfield; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, was held at Nov. 16, 2020, at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon. Burial will follow at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation was held Nov. 15, 2020, in the funeral home chapel. Memorials may be made payable to the First Baptist Church Endowment Fund, in care of the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, the family has requested for those attending the services to please wear a mask and to practice social distancing.
