Edwin Francis Flehmer

Edwin “Ed” Francis Flehmer, 78, of Pierce City passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025. He was born June 23, 1947, in Monett to Fred and Loanna (McGinnis) Flehmer. He attended elementary school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Pierce City and continued at Pierce City High School. While in high school he was an active member of the FFA holding the title of state officer and received his American Farmer Degree. He was in the inaugural class to attend Crowder College in Neosho, where he majored in animal science. From there, he transferred to the University of Missouri where he was a member of the livestock judging team and obtained his  bachelor’s degree in animal science. Upon graduation, he returned home to the family farm to work along side his father. He served in the National Guard of Pierce City for six years where his position was a heavy equipment operator.
He met the love of his life, Judy, early on at church. She not only stole his heart but also his pack of gum during a Sunday mass. He and Judith Landoll were united in matrimony on June 19, 1976, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together they built a life and family sharing 49 years of marriage.
He dedicated his life to his faith, farming and his family. You could see him driving through town in his old blue farm truck with his children in tow. He shared his passion in faith, outdoors, cattle, and all things Missouri sports with his children and grandchildren. Of all his titles or jobs, he enjoyed the title of Pops the most. His grandchildren were his world and always pushed them “to do their best.” Upon retirement, he immersed himself in the world of sports. During this time, his family jokingly referred to him as the Ed Flehmer Sports Network (EFSN).
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Fred and Loanna Flehmer.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Judy, of the home, his two children: Stephen Flehmer and his wife Erin, of Pierce City; Jennifer Riley and her husband John Michael of Stillwater, Okla.; his beloved four grandchildren; brother Gary, of Pierce City; and several nieces, nephews and close family friends.
Rosary services will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at St. Mary’s Church in Pierce City, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. The funeral mass will be held  at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 3. Burial will be held right after the funeral at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pierce City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in his honor, to St. Mary’s Church or CoxHealth Foundation: Colorectal Cancer Prevention Fund (3525 S National Ave, Springfield, MO 65807). Arrangements are by Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
