Edna Irene Nehls

Edna Irene Nehls, 93, passed away June 11, 2020 in Kingwood, Texas. She was born Oct. 17, 1926 in Blytheville, Ark. to Lilburn Thomas and Mossie May Cagle.
She grew up in Arkansas and Memphis. In 1950, she moved to California with her husband, Alvin York Smith, who preceded her in death in 1964. They raised their daughter, Edna ‘Liz’ Smith-Negrete and son, Kenneth Wayne Smith in La Puente, Calif. In 1971 she married Orrin Nehls, who preceded her in death in 2016. In 1999 they moved to Livingston, Texas.
She is survived by: son, Kenneth Smith; eight grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held June 27, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Lakin Funeral Home, 501 N Elm Street, Pierce City, Missouri 65723. Burial will follow at Monett I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.
