Dr. Orval Olen Copper DDS

Dr. Orval Olen Copper DDS, 94, of Monett passed away Jan. 13, 2020 while staying at Lacoba Homes in Monett. He was born March 24, 1925 at Plainville. He was the son of William O. Copper and Marqueritte Bright Copper. He grew up there and graduated high school in 1943.
He enlisted in the Navy in July of 1943 and served until June of 1946. He was stationed in several places including Treasure Island, San Francisco, and aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid, and was discharged at Norman, Okla. After military service he attended Ft. Hays State College from 1946-1950 graduating. While at Ft. Hays he met and married Janice S. Starke in 1947. After graduating he and Janice moved to Kansas City where he attended the University of Kansas City from 1950-1954 graduating from the School of Dentistry. They moved to Scott City,  where they were in private practice from 1950-1979. While there they raised two sons. Moving to Purdy in 1979, they practiced there until they retired in 1989 and later moved to Monett residing there until his death. Copper was a lifelong member of the Masons, Anthem Lodge #284, Eastern Star, Isis Shrine, Salina and a member of the Countryside Christian Church.
He is survived by: sons, Dennis and David. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Bobby L. Copper of Louisville, Ky.
Visitation was held Jan. 15, 2020 at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett. Private family burial will be at a later time. Memorials may be made to the Countryside Christian Church in Monett. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett.
