DONNA FORD MILLS (IE: Daniel)

On December 21, 2019, Donna went to be with her lord and savior, with her family at her side. Donna loved her Lord and Savior and was blessed with great faith that sustained her throughout her life.
Donna was born in a log cabin July 25, 1928, to Murl and Willa (Loftis) Daniel and grew up on the family farm just outside of Gainesville, Missouri, with her brothers, Harold and Delano, and her sister June.  After graduating high school she moved to Mt. Vernon, Missouri in 1948, and found work at the B&C Cafe.  While working there she met a young Mt. Vernon native who was home on leave from the military, Kenneth Ford.  Donna and Kenneth fell in love and were married July 15, 1950.  From this marriage they were blessed with six children, Mary, Mona, William (Bill), Kenneth (Matt), Donna (Kathleen) and Jonathan (Jon) Ford.
Donna was a military wife who followed her husband throughout his different military postings when possible, and returning to Mt. Vernon when she and the children could not.  After Kenneth retired from the military in 1967 they made Mt. Vernon their permanent home.  Shortly afterwards Donna began taking care of children as a way of making a living but quickly became a second mother and grandmother to numerous children.  Donna took pride in these children and loved them as her own and was fortunate enough to care for some children whose parents she had previously taken care of.
Kenneth passed away in 1979.  Donna met and married Donald (Don) Mills in 1987.  Donna and Don shared happiness together until his passing in 2008.  Donna saw several grandchildren come into her life, Regina Johnson (Ford), Ellena Jones, Sean Ford, Jamie Johnson, Andrea Paulie (Ford), Bailey Ford, Kenneth Ford and Jessica Ford.  Donna then had nine great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Donna had been a long time member of the Rebekah / IOOF Lodge of Mt. Vernon and was a member of the Christ Chapel Church of Mt. Vernon.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.  Burial followed at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery.  Visitation was held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday December 26, 2019, in the funeral home chapel.
Memorials in memory of Donna can be made payable to the Shriners Hospitals for Children in care of the funeral home.
