Donald E. “Donnie” Stephens

Donald E. “Donnie” Stephens, 77, of Cassville, passed away June 20, 2020 at Roaring River Health and Rehabilitation. He was born Sept. 5, 1942 in Stella, to Leon and Mary Ruth (Prewitt) Stephens, who preceded him in death.
He grew up and received his education in Washburn, where he graduated from high school. After serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War he moved to Purdy. He worked for G & R Ind, sewing machine cabinets for Singer Manufacturing in Monett and even partnering with Jack Henry for a time building cabinets for stereo speakers. He was a member of Mission Baptist Church, longtime member of Purdy Lions Club and was on the City Council of Purdy.
He is survived by: daughters, Jatha (Brad) Roller and Jamie (Chuck) Edie all of Cassville; brother, Eddie (Debbie) Stephens of Carthage; sisters, Peggy (Doyle) Edie of Exeter and Nita Bradford-Stephens of Cassville; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: brothers, James Stephens and an infant brother; and a sister-in-law, Donna Stephens.
Services were held June 25, 2020 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Burial was at Washburn Prairie Cemetery in Washburn.
