Dena Childress David

Dena Childress David, 76, of Pierce City, passed away March 31, 2020, at her home in Pierce City. She was born in Union, Miss. Dec. 7, 1943. She was the daughter of Mertis and Abbiedeen (McCraw) Butts. She spent many years working at Herds Truck Stop, Jump Stop in Monett, waitressing, and bartending. She grew up in a Pentecostal church in Mississippi.
Surviving are the following: daughter, Brandi (Jeremy) Krempges of Mt. Vernon; sons, Charles (Rebecca) Paternostro of Pierce City and Ronnie (Elicia) Edwards of Vancleave, Miss.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; sons, Timothy and Tony Paternostro; brother, John A. Butts; and sisters, Lucille May, Inez Oswalt, and Katherine Butts.
A private family interment will occur at the Pierce City Cemetery. A visitation will be held at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City June 6, 2020 at 2 p.m. A celebration of life service will follow at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City.
