David Lee Craft

David Lee Craft, 80, passed away Dec. 9, 2019, in Mt. Vernon, at the Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Dec. 7, 1939, in Brookfield, to Minnie Viola (Grant) and Charles David Craft. Craft married Ellen Gunter; she preceded him in death in 2013.
He attended high school in Brookfield. Craft proudly served his country both in the United States Air Force and the United Stated Army. He worked with the Missouri Veterans Commission prior to working and retiring as a field examiner with the federal government overseeing and securing funds for veterans’ services. He was a member of Battlefield First Baptist Church in Battlefield.
Craft is survived by: children, Robert (Marla) Craft, David (Joan) Craft, and Michael Craft; five grandchildren; and brother, Charles “Chuck” Craft. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Visitation was held Dec. 12, 2019 at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home in Springfield. A funeral service with military honors was held Dec. 13, 2019 at Battlefield First Baptist Church in Battlefield. Burial was at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Memorials may be made to Fisher House or Operation Homefront.
