COVID spreading, Law. Co. Health Dept. urges masks

Lawrence County Health Department announces several more cases in last week

In the last week, the Lawrence County Health Department, in multiple press releases, announced several new cases of COVID-19. The most recent tally of COVID cases in the county is 47. Of the 47 confirmed cases, 17 are active, 29 have recovered and one resulted in death.
Of the newly announced confirmations, some were from community exposure and some were exposed in their own household. The LCHD announced one confirmed case was linked to Bentonview Park Health and Rehab in Monett, while another case was not symptomatic—but masked—while attending church service at the Monett Church of the Nazarene. The church has since suspended services for two weeks, which started July 5.
With the current uptick in confirmations, the LCHD is also urging residents to wear masks in public and/or at work. Also being encouraged is the avoidance of large crowds, close contact with those who are sick, and touching your face with unwashed hands. As is now commonplace, residents are again asked to wash hands frequently and disinfect objects and surfaces; stay at home if you’re sick, and cover your cough with the crook of your arm, then wash your hands.
