Charles Grant Carpenter

Charles Grant Carpenter, 77, of Sarcoxie, passed away May 23, 2019, at the Sarcoxie Nursing Center.
Carpenter was born Sept. 29, 1941, in Pennsboro, to the late Melvin and Faye (Hickey) Carpenter. He grew up in Grays Point and Miller area and graduated from Mt. Vernon High School. In 1963 he was married to Barbara Cook,they shared 55 years together. Carpenter was engaged in full time farming. He enjoyed working on tractors, attending tractor pulls, racing, playing dominoes, spending time with family and friends and was an avid reader. He was a hard worker and was always lending a helping hand. He was a member of Avilla Baptist Church.
Carpenter is survived by: wife, Barbara; daughter, Charla (Don) Edwards of Vinita, Okla.; three grandchildren all of Vinita, Okla.; brother, Don (Heidi) Carpenter, of Mt. Vernon; sister, Linda Bolin, of Republic; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daryl Carpenter.
Memorial services were held June 1, 2019, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie. Online condolences may be sent to the family through www.housh-goodwinfuneralhome.com. Cremation arrangements were under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie.
