Carrol N. Hayes

Carrol N. Hayes, 86, of Butterfield, passed away Jan. 5, 2020 at Bentonview Park Health and Rehabilitation in Monett. He was born May 25, 1933 in Barry County, to Otis and Florence (Lester) Hayes. In 1959 he married Barbara Baldridge; she preceded him in death. In 1989 he married Doris Moore Wolf; she survives.
Hayes grew up and received his education in Cassville, where he graduated with the class of 1952. After high school he joined the United States Navy, serving from 1953 until 1957. For 32 years he worked for Cedar Rapids Fire Department in Iowa, also serving as the captain until his retirement in 1990. After retirement he moved to Butterfield to make his home. For several years after retirement he worked at True Value Hardware in Cassville. He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Cassville.
He is survived by: sons, Michael Hayes of Los Lunas, N.M., James Hayes of Albuquerque, N.M. and Ron Hayes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; step-sons, Marty Wolf of Butterfield and Wesley Drake of Greenville, Texas; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he is also preceded by his parents; brother, Don Hayes; and a sister, Mickie Stoos.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Jan. 10, 2020 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Cassville, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
