BETTY JEAN “BJ” MYERS

Betty Jean “BJ” Myers, 88, of Aurora, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at home. Betty was born in Springfield, Missouri on February 12, 1936, the daughter of Hubert Jackson Tharp and Hazel Marie (Jones) Tharp.
Betty grew up  and graduated from Rogersville H.S. She went on to become a CNA and worked in  surrounding nursing home facilities. She enjoyed playing Bingo with her best friend Brenda.
Betty was married to Vernon “Maurice” Myers and he preceded her in death.
Betty is survived by her children Linda Jean (Whaley) Vannostrand, Karen Colleen Whaley, Timothy Paul Whaley, Shelly Robin (Myers) Thompson, Kim Renee’ (Myers) Bowerman, Carol Denise (Myers) Parnell and Jeffrey Allen Myers; her service dog ”Baby” who became her “partner in crime”; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Kenneth “Kenny” Tharp, Bennie Tharp, Connie Presley, Cindy Robins and Terry Tharp.
Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, confidant and best friend, Vernon  “Maurice” Myers; her parents; and her siblings, Jackie Tharp, Larry Tharp, Frankie Tharp and Mark Tharp.
A special thanks to the wonderful Aurora Mercy Hospital staff and Gentiva Hospice. Thank you also to the family and friends who came and visited during her last days.
Betty was cremated and a celebration of life will be held on June 29, 2024. Further details will follow later.
