Betty Ann Gayer

Betty Ann Gayer, 85, of Mt. Vernon passed away Oct. 21, 2020 at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center. She was born June 26, 1935, in Lawrence County, the daughter of Alvin and Myrtle (Burns) Noltensmeyer.
Gayer was a 1953 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and worked for the First National Bank in Mt. Vernon.  She retired from Ozark Electric in Mt. Vernon after 25 years as a payroll clerk.  She was a member of the Ozark Presbyterian Church.
On Feb. 14, 1956, she married James D. Gayer, in Mt. Vernon.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years; sons, Anthony Gayer of Muskogee, Okla. and David (Thuy) Gayer of Benton, Kan.; sisters, Linda Duncan of Red Oak, Texas and Neva (Duke) Polizzi of Petaluma, California; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Myrtle and one brother, Wallace Noltensmeyer.
A graveside service, under the direction of the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at the Shiloh Cemetery, northeast of Miller. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, in the funeral home chapel.
