Aurora baseball played four games last week, Lady Houn’s soccer drops game to Marshfield

The Aurora High School baseball team traveled to Carthage to take part in the Bill O’Dell Varsity Festival from Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27.

 

The Houn’ Dawgs lost to Harrison, Ark. on Friday, 12-6. Harrison scored five runs in the first inning, three runs in the third inning and single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, Aurora scored two runs in the first inning, a single run in the second and fifth innings and two runs in the sixth inning.

 

On Thursday, Aurora lost to Republic 11-1. The Tigers scored single runs in the first and fourth innings, seven runs in the third inning and two runs in the fifth inning. The Houn’ Dawgs scored their only run in the third inning.

 

On Tuesday, March 24, the Houn’ Dawgs hosted Marshfield but lost to the Blue Jays, 9-3.

 

Marshfield led 3-0 after the first inning and 5-0 after the fourth inning, Aurora scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 5-3. The Blue Jays scored four runs in the sixth inning to put the game away,

 

The Houn’ Dawgs opened their week by traveling to Hollister on Monday, March 23 but lost to the Tigers 9-8.

 

Aurora scored first to take an early 1-0 lead but Hollister answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first inning and six runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-1 lead. The Houn’ Dawgs battled back, scoring a single run in the top of the fourth inning, four runs in the top of the fifth inning and two runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 8-8. Hollister would walk it off with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

 

Aurora is currently 2-5 on the season and were scheduled to play against Diamond last night before heading to Springfield to play in the Red & Blue Tournament tomorrow through Saturday.

 

Girls soccer

 

The Lady Houn’s soccer team traveled to Marshfield on Wednesday, March 25 but fell to the Lady Jays 2-0.

 

“The team connected passes well and created scoring opportunities throughout the match,” said Head Coach Shawn Pennell. “The next step in our growth as a team is finishing those offensive chances.”

 

Aurora is 0-2 on the season and were scheduled to play at McDonald County last night before traveling to Springfield to take part in the Parkview Shootout tomorrow and Friday night.
