Aurora’s Victor charged with domestic assault, animal abuse; remains in jail

Local police called three times in one day on suspect who allegedly threw Chihuahua at slow cooker
An Aurora woman was arrested after she allegedly attacked a man following her release from the Aurora-Marionville Police Department. Jacquelyn Victor, 56, was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on Saturday, Dec. 25.
According to the probable cause statement in the case, police were called to the victim’s apartment, where he told them that Victor, who had already been taken into custody once by the Aurora-Marionville Police, started hitting him in the face and throat when she was released. The victim, it was reported, has a tracheotomy tube from a prior condition; he told the police after she punched him in the throat, he began to have trouble breathing. An officer noted a red mark on the victim’s temple and slight redness on his neck.
Victor, per the probable cause statement, admitted while she was being arrested to punching the victim in the throat to intentionally hit him in his tracheotomy.
It was the third time that day that officers had responded to a call on Victor; the first call came at 7 a.m. and the second was at 5 p.m. The third call, resulting in her arrest, came at 6 p.m. All three calls were for domestic assault.
Victor also faces a charge of animal abuse stemming from an incident that took place Nov. 6. In that case, a man who was living with Victor said he was sleeping on the couch but decided to move into the bed with Victor; he said he then awoke to Victor slapping him in the face and kicking him in the ribs.
A member of the Aurora-Police Department came to speak with Victor about the incident, and according to the probable cause statement, after the officer told Victor to stand up “numerous times,” Victor allegedly threw a Chihuahua she was holding towards a slow cooker that was to the right of her.
Victor appeared in court on the domestic assault charge on Monday, Jan. 3; she will appear again on Thursday, Jan. 27. She will make an initial appearance in court on the animal abuse charge on Monday, Jan. 31. As of press time, she remained in the Lawrence County Jail.
