417 Predator Hunters involved in sting of man seeking to meet up with underage girl

An Aurora man is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail on charges he allegedly tried to entice a girl under the age of 15 to engage in sexual activity with him. Brian Wayne Haley, 51, was booked into the jail on Wed., Jan. 8.
A c c o r d i n g to the probable cause statement filed in the case, an officer with the Aurora Police Department was notified on Dec. 21, 2019 that Haley was in contact with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl named Bethany; Bethany is the pseudonym of a decoy for 417 Predator Hunters, an online child predator trap site.
The officer reported that in the messages, “Bethany” clearly stated she was 14 years of age, and that Haley asked her to “flash her breast to him” on the Skout messaging app. Bethany asked what they would do if they were to meet up, and Haley allegedly said “they would sit, talk and smoke,” and he allegedly offered Bethany drinks presumed to contain alcohol. According to the probable cause statement, Haley arranged to meet Bethany on Dec. 22 at a location in Springfield. He allegedly asked her again to show him her breasts to prove that she wasn’t law enforcement. Haley was also reported to have said she “would love it” if he performed an oral sexual act on her, and that she could play with his genitalia.
Haley allegedly arrived at the location to meet with Haley on Dec. 22. According to the probable cause statement, a member of 417 Predator Hunters videotaped him trying to meet Bethany.
Haley allegedly had the conversation with the decoy via Skout while he was in Aurora, putting the case in the jurisdiction of Lawrence County.
As of press time, Haley was being held without bond.
